Super Blog-Off: Green Bay Faces Off Against Pittsburgh to Connect Kids to Coverage – Say Ahhh! A Children’s Health Policy Blog

So maybe I’m taking HHS Secretary Sebelius’ “Connecting
Kids to Coverage Challenge
” a little too far but if millions of Americans are
going to drop everything to watch the Super Bowl, why can’t we channel some of
that energy into something that will help uninsured children “Get Covered and
Get in the Game
“.

Say Ahhh! created its own challenge: The “Super Blog-Off”.  We invited a children’s
health advocate from Green Bay and one from Pittsburgh to square off in a
“friendly” competition to determine which devoted fan base is doing more to
help uninsured children.  While we
won’t likely reach over 110 million people or be able to sell ads for $3 million
per thirty seconds, we hope to focus attention on an important issue facing
America.  How can we reach the 5
million uninsured children who are eligible for Medicaid or the Children’s
Health Insurance Program but not yet insured?

And now for some pre-game insights on our dueling bloggers:  The Steeler Nation’s Reverand Sally Jo Snyder swaddles babies in “Terrible Towels” to make her point while one of our favorite “Cheese Heads”, Michael Jacobs, invokes the memory of Vince Lombardi to argue that the “Pack is Back”.   To
vote for your favorite blog, submit a comment to that blog with “Go Packers” or “Go
Steelers” in the text.  They must be
entered before kick-off Sunday night.
We’ll announce the winner on Monday morning.  Oh, and did I mention the prize?  Happy healthy kids – who could ask for anything more.

May the best outreach team win!
